Deciding to spread her wings, she flew down to South Beach and opened her first restaurant, "CHOW" - Asian-Tropical to "exceptional" reviews. Kendal Hamersley of the Miami Herald says, "Stanton has a sense of identity and approach". Comparing her talent to the original "mango gang" of Norman Van Aken, Robin Haas and Allen Susser, "The adage that the best chefs have to be men or that the best food has to cost a fortune, gets a sure shot test a CHOW." Miami Metro Magazine and the South Florid gourmet agreed Deborah's "romancing of Asian-Tropical cuisine, created delicious results. Mark Goldberg, dining critic, states, "Ask Stanton what makes a good chef and she'll tell you it's something that comes from the heart. She’s put her heart, her skill and her knowledge into CHOW. The good taste shows." Due to an unfortunate personal accident, Deborah's life came to an abrupt halt, recently. As a pedestrian, she was struck by an automobile rendering her completely disabled Now over a year later and several back surgeries had, Deborah with her strength, determination and passion for cooking is ready to commandeer a new kitchen. She and her partner, David Oh, working together as Executive Chef and General Manager of "Woo Lae Oak" Soho, decided to create their own dining experience. They are set to open "Deborah - Life - Love - Food" in mid-October. The menu will be Modern American, comfort food that will emphasize fresh, quality food from local farmers and businesses.
